At least once a week, my photographer sister Gloria, and I will chat ourselves into a random brainstorm about a creative shoot we want to do next. Her: “I’m thinking about doing an astrophotography shoot at the top of a mountain in the desert with like llamas in the background.” Me: “Yeah, I’ve been wanting to do something with a ton of hydrangea.” Luckily she always gets my vision.
Producing a styled shoot as a part-time florist is always a creative challenge. It’s the time, resourcing, and committing to an idea, even if not perfect. The goal is to push our skills, even just a little, to show what we’re building and what we want to make more of. It’s very much a ‘wouldn’t be cool if…’ , ‘why not’ and ‘let’s just have fun with it’ vibe.

Neutrals with a pop of color are one of my favorite colorways and I’ve been dying to intentionally interpret this contrast with flowers. That’s where this Pink Harvest shoot came in. The idea was to explore a neutral backdrop with colorful flowers and the dry Texan textures amidst some fluffy soft blooms. Luckily Commons Forge Ranch had the perfect dry grass at the time to fit the vision.

The moodboard! All photos sourced as inspiration imagery via Pinterest.
We started in the fields and then ended with some flash photography by the road which gave us some of our favorite shots. I honestly love how everything turned out!
Thank you to these incredible ladies for bringing this to life!
